A Month’s Difference

It’s hard to believe that December is here once again. I don’t care much for trees and tinsel but I do like lights. They remind me of The Light of the World. I don’t care much for gift giving except to help someone meet a need and show them I care. I enjoy the music and singing carols and the attitude of praise and adoration for Christ.  Seems we get a little sweeter and a little more patient and considerate at this time of year – I pray I could keep that spirit all year.

For many years we would gather at our humble home with all our kids and my sister’s family from next door and go sing carols to older folks in the neighborhood and come back for goodies we prepared.  I remember one Christmas several from our church sang carols at the house of a lady I knew who had cancer and she died shortly after that.  I know she heard and appreciated because her family propped her up and opened the door.  I know we enjoyed doing it also.  Maybe there is a neighbor that needs help raking leaves or cleaning gutters and that can be your gift in the name of Christ.  Or maybe you could leave a pecan pie or fresh baked cookies for a neighbor with a note letting them know they are in your prayers.

May God bless you, protect you, and provide for each of your needs and I sincerely hope you and your family have a blessed December and a very Happy New Year.
